| A perfect Christmas treat for the whole family. This spectacular pantomime provides a magical feast of fun, music and laughter, and will be staged early in the New Year by the award-winning Desborough Players at the Playhouse in Walton-on-Thames. This special charity performance of Hansel and Gretel will be raising funds this year for the Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal, and will take place on Thursday January 5th at 7.30pm.

| World Diabetes Day was established by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 1991 with the aim of co-ordinating diabetes advocacy worldwide. Since then, it has become the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes community. This year the emphasis for World Diabetes Day falls on foot problems caused by diabetes, one of the more serious and costly complications of the disease. The slogan for the 2005 campaign is: Put Feet First Prevent Amputations.

| Stephanie Fisher recently joined 25,000 women in Hyde Park for the ’5K Hydro Active Challenge’ (previously the ’Flora Light’) to help raise money for the charity set up in her friends memory. Stephanie undertook the 5 km race with University College Oxford friend Becky Hewitson, and as an added twist they ran tied together and made it a three-legged race.

This charity performance will take place at The Playhouse Theatre, Hepworth Way, Walton on Thames on Thursday, 5th January at 7.30 p.m. This pantomime will be a treat for the entire family as The Desborough Players NEVER disappoint - oh no they don't!!!!!

Where she highlighted how the proposed Stephanie Marks Diabetes Resource Centre to be based at St. Peter's Hospital Chertsey, will help deliver the standards of care set out in a national framework for Diabetes (NSF National Service Framework) to people in North Surrey, Middlesex and the wider region.

| The Radiology Runners, led by Kathryn Williams, Radiology Development Facilitator, will be the biggest part of the huge team of 24 people running The British 10k on behalf of The Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal. Last year our team of 9 runners raised well over £1000 between them - a fantastic result. Every step they ran has brought us further down the road of building a dedicated Diabetes Resource Centre to serve our entire catchment area. This year many have taken up the challenge again and are determined to beat their previous records.

| Olympic Golf Medalist Sarah Webb will lead a breakfast fun run on Sunday, 12 June in conjunction with David Lloyd, Brooklands to mark the start of National Diabetes Week, and raise money for The Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal. The route has been specifically selected as it gives participants the chance to choose whether they want to run 3k or 5k. Supporters who are unable to run are invited to walk - everyone is welcome - young and old. This is a chance to get fit, enjoy some fresh air, have fun and support this worthwhile cause!!!

| The Stephanie Marks Appeal received its largest single donation to date when £36,180 was presented by The Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Martin Schofield at the end of his year of office. Sue Marks, Stephanie's mother, beamed as she visualized her daughter's dream move one step closer to reality. The incoming Mayor, Cllr Graham Winton and Avril Surridge, member of the Stephanie Marks Appeal committee member and chair of Diabetes UK St. Peter's and District Group also attended the presentation which took place on Monday 23rd May, in the recently refurbished reception area at St. Peter's Hospital, Chertsey.

Heartfelt pleas to support the Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal were made yesterday (Wednesday 27th April) by the parents of Stephanie Marks and Cricketing legend Sir Ian Botham and his wife Kathy. They are supporting a £2.5m appeal for a dedicated resource centre and satellite clinics to improve diabetes care across north Surrey and south west London. Over £230,000 has already been raised by public support for the initiative towards the £500,000 public support target. A further £2m is now sought from corporate donors, research and development companies and the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry.

| David Stansbury and Sam Barclay undertook the Devizes to Westminster Canoe race, over the Easter Weekend. This is an international Kayak race which attracts many of the world's best canoe clubs. It is a grueling 125 mile four day event, with three night stops. The boys, both under 18, competed in the junior category and undertook the race on behalf of the Stephanie Marks appeal. David, who lives in Oxshott in Surrey aims to raise £700 from sponsorship. Both are pupils at Marlborough College, Wiltshire.

The New Victoria Theatre, Woking is once again supporting The Stephanie Marks Appeal by allowing tickets to be sold for a special charity performance of the irresistible comedy When Harry Met Sally. This funny and touching show starring Gaby Roslin and Johnny Wrather has been faithfully adapted from the Academy Award winning film starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. Tickets for this special performance, which takes place on Monday 13 June at 8 pm, are £17 for 'best available seats'. A donation from each ticket will be made to the Stephanie Marks Appeal.

Love is in the air so celebrate in style by joining the Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Elmbridge, Councillor Martin Schofield, at the Valentine's Charity Ball in aid of the Mayor's Charity Appeal on behalf of Asthma UK, Stephanie Marks Appeal and The Mayor of Elmbridge Trust Fund. Tickets are £50 per head which include a reception drink, a three course meal (a vegetarian option available) and dancing till 1.00 a.m. to the Perry Parsons Big Band.
