Chief Pharmacist at St Peter’s Hospital will join Ian Botham OBE on his walk in support of Diabetes.
Cricket legend Ian Botham is to embark on one final walk to raise funds for teenagers and young adults with cancer, in addition to supporting The Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal to which he is Patron.
Money raised by Ian on his UK walk will be split between two charities; Leukaemia Research, and Teenage Cancer Trust. In addition to the two cancer charities, Ian offered one person the opportunity to join him on the Southampton leg of his walk in support of The Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal. Chief Pharmacist Jeremy Tozer from Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust, based in Chertsey, Surrey, has been awarded the challenge and aims to raise £6,000 to help fund a specialist diabetes centre – initially serving the catchment area of Ashford & St Peter’s NHS Trust.
Jeremy lives in Claygate with his wife Louise and their two boys Charlie and Ben.
”I think everyone wants to do their bit for a good cause and this is a great opportunity for local people to show their support for a local Appeal. For me, it is even more exciting that I get to do this challenge in the company of one of England’s greatest sporting icons” says Jeremy.
”Ian Botham brought excitement to cricket and sometimes single handedly took on other countries! I think his greatest strength was that not only was he a natural sportsman, but combined it with a huge competitive instinct.”
The walk will take place on Sunday 15th October 2006. Please do show your support for the boys by visiting www.stephaniemarks.org.uk and making a donation (secured funds via JustGiving).

| ”I am well known for the support I give to leukaemia research after meeting patients with leukaemia, I also support several other charities which are close to my heart, diabetes being one of them. It is essential that we raise awareness about this growing problem and how important it is that individuals learn to carefully manage their own condition. I look forward to meeting you on the walk in support of the Appeal”
