Saturday 19th April will mark the third annual Living with Diabetes Day, run by Ashford & St Peter’s NHS Trust and The Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal. Described as a day of inspiration and information, the event is aimed at anyone with Diabetes, their family, friends and carers.
This year the programme will be packed once again with informative speakers including medical professionals who will give an overview of diabetes and cover areas such as Gum Disease, Retinal Screening & the latest research developments. There will also be a selection of exhibitions offering a range of services and advice on diabetes care.
To inspire you in the kitchen, we are delighted to have with us this year Azmina Govindji RD. Known for her lively personality, Consultant nutritionist and registered dietitian, broadcaster, best-selling author and Master NLP Practitioner, Azmina will enlighten us all on her healthy and creative meal ideas in her cookery demonstration. She will also join with the Dieticians from Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals to answer questions such as; What type of diet should I follow and Why is it so important to keep blood glucose levels stable? A regular contributor to numerous magazines, Azmina also appears on TV (such as ITV’s This Morning, Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff) and radio (e.g. Radio 4 Food programme) and is regularly quoted in the national press.
Author of 14 books, including Healthy Eating for Diabetes with Antony Worrall Thompson, Azmina also supports, the ‘Delicious Dining’ recipe book compiled by the Dietetics Department at Ashford & St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust with a foreword by the Antony Worrall Thompson, in aid of the Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal.
