Running for Stephanie, British 10k, Sunday 3rd July 2005

The Radiology Runners, led by Kathryn Williams, Radiology Development Facilitator, will be the biggest part of the huge team of 24 people running The British 10k on behalf of The Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal. Last year our team of 9 runners raised well over £1000 between them - a fantastic result. Every step they ran has brought us further down the road of building a dedicated Diabetes Resource Centre to serve our entire catchment area. This year many have taken up the challenge again and are determined to beat their previous records.

Speaking about this years event Kathryn said: "This is a fantastic event and as a Department we leapt at the challenge to raise some money for the Stephanie Marks Appeal. Running round London's landmarks will be compensation for the hours of training many of us have put in, we just need lots of people to sponsor us to we can make lots of money for the appeal."

The British 10k follows a stunning route. The race starts at Hyde Park Corner, continues through Central London passing many of London's well-known landmarks and finishes in Whitehall. Participants must be able to complete the course in 2 hours - so let the training begin! For more information visit www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk

We wish them luck. You can support them by visiting www.stephaniemarks.org.uk and linking with the JustGiving website where you can give on line using a credit or debit card.

Once on the site, select 'raise money for this charity' which will, nearer the time, give you the option to support individual runners. For more information ring Val on 2330.

Construction of the Diabetes Resource Centre is now underway and is scheduled to be completed in the Autumn 2009.

Official fundraising for the Appeal has now stopped but donations are still welcome and needed to support patient education and materials. Please send your cheque payable to "The Stephanie Marks Appeal" to Janet Booker, Cashier, St. Peter's Hospital (telephone 01932 722334).

Thank you for your ongoing support
